Food Glorious Food

I eat because I am hungry...most of the time. I get easily distracted and so have been known to miss a meal here and there (though not recently due to hypoglycemia setting in). When I mention forgetting to eat, friends say "how can you forget to eat!". Well, I guess it's because eating is not a priority to me unless I'm very hungry. There are often more interesting or important things to do. It isn't like I don't enjoy the taste of some foods, or dislike others, it's just that food is not a priority to me other than for survival. I like having left overs in my fridge, not as much for getting to eat a particular food again as for the convenience of having a ready meal. So if you don't understand how anyone can forget to eat, you are probably not the kind of person who just eats to survive...because we have to. So I am just telling you that we are out there...we eat mostly because our bodies demand it of us. Having said that, I have been known to snack on a sweet without provocation. Just can't seem to pass up those sweets :) I don't think, though, it changes my overall desire for food...I think of it more as a chore, something that needs to be done rather than something I enjoy doing. I will take a second helping of something that tastes very good, and eat less of something that I don't like (or more likely not eat it at all), but just to the point of being full, then I am done.
So, that is one side of things anyway...eating to live, I guess, instead of living to eat.
